Where Is He? Finding Christ in the Christmas Season

“Where is he that is born King of the Jews?”

— Matthew 2:2

As we read through Matthew chapter 2, we’re brought into the heart of the Christmas story. Christ has been born, and now the wise men—these learned magi from the East—are making their way toward Him. They’ve been following a star, traveling with purpose, searching for the One who has been born King of the Jews.

When they reach Jerusalem, they naturally assume this is where a king would be found. And so they ask the question that still echoes today:

“Where is He?”

This is the Christmas narrative. Everything centers around the birth of Jesus Christ. Yet the question the wise men asked is the same question we could ask when we look at how the world celebrates Christmas today.

Where Is Jesus in Our Christmas?

Walk through any store, scroll through social media, or drive down a decorated street—and you’ll see lights, gifts, ornaments, tinsel, and endless activity. None of it is wrong. In fact, much of it is enjoyable and special.

But you can’t help but ask: Where is Jesus in all of this?

We don’t expect the world to focus on Christ. The world will do what the world does. But Christians? Followers of Jesus? Those who know why He came?

Where is Christ in our Christmas?

Shining Like the Star

Just like the star shone brightly and pointed the way to Christ, you and I are called to shine for Jesus during this season. In everything we do—from our gatherings, to our giving, to our conversations—we ought to point people back to Him.

The wise men were searching for Him.
The world still needs Him.
And believers should be making much of Him.

This year, let your life be a light that leads others to Christ.

Make much of Jesus this Christmas.
